Ingredients

  • cups homemade applesauce
  • 1 apple peeled and diced into small chunks
  • 6 small flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Optional: caramel sauce or whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon. Brush both sides of each tortilla with melted butter and sprinkle generously with the cinnamon sugar.
  • Gently fold each tortilla in half and place them upright in the oven (you can drape them over two bars of your oven rack or tuck them into a muffin tin to hold the shape).
  • Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the tortillas are golden and crisp. Let them cool just slightly so they hold their shape.
  • While the tortillas cool slightly, stir the diced apple into the warm applesauce so the chunks soften just a bit.
  • Spoon the warm, apple-packed sauce into each taco shell.
  • Add a drizzle of caramel or a dollop of whipped cream, then serve while they’re still warm and crisp.
